This module explores how effective leaders in healthcare can harness the power of networking and collaboration to drive meaningful change. Participants will learn how to bring together diverse stakeholders –including government ministries, professional societies, community-based organisations, and other key actors – to achieve shared health goals.
Facilitator Rita Yenjong highlights the Advocacy for Comprehensive Abortion Care (ACAC) Network in Cameroon as a practical example, illustrating how strong leadership and strategic collaboration can amplify voices, coordinate strategies, influence policy, mobilise resources, and foster solidarity among network members.
The session covers the full lifecycle of creating and sustaining a network: defining clear objectives, conducting stakeholder analyses, recruiting members, hosting start-up meetings, building capacity through joint trainings, and maintaining engagement and accountability. Challenges such as staff turnover, resistance from external actors, and funding constraints are also addressed, with practical strategies for leaders to overcome them.
By the end of the module, participants will gain actionable insights into leading and sustaining collaborative networks that strengthen health programmes, drive advocacy, and improve care for women and girls.
