Leadership Empowerment Series: Motivation
Uncover practical strategies to inspire, engage, and sustain motivated teams, applying key motivational theories to drive high-quality, patient-centred care.
Effective leadership in healthcare requires the ability to motivate teams to perform, adapt and find meaning in high-pressure, rapidly evolving environments. In this module of the Leadership Empowerment Series, Dr Aparna Sridhar will guide participants through practical strategies to inspire, engage and sustain a motivated workforce.
Participants will learn how foundational motivational theories – including Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory, and Self-Determination Theory – can be applied to real-world healthcare settings. They will distinguish between intrinsic motivation, driven by personal fulfilment and meaningful patient impact, and extrinsic motivation, such as recognition, rewards, and career advancement, and will explore how to balance both for optimal engagement.
Learners will discover how to foster a supportive and inclusive work culture, promote work-life balance and strengthen feedback mechanisms. Using a real-world healthcare transformation scenario, participants will see how motivation can support the adoption of new technologies, encourage continuous learning, and address resistance to change.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to cultivate motivation that drives team engagement, resilience and high-quality, patient-centred care.
