Leadership Empowerment Series: Managing change – National, regional and local
Master strategies for change management in women’s health, ensuring critical evidence translates seamlessly from policy to practice.
Transforming healthcare is never straightforward. The impact of well-managed change can save lives and improve outcomes for women and girls worldwide.
Led by Prof Puis Okong, this module focuses on change management in women’s health, guiding healthcare professionals on how to translate critical evidence into practice across multiple levels of the health system. Participants will consider the processes required to implement new interventions, from national policy and programme development to health facility practices and patient engagement. Learners will gain insight into identifying key stakeholders, developing strategies for effective communication, and managing resources, timing, and cultural adaptation to ensure successful adoption.
Prof Okong also emphasises the role of professional associations in driving policy change, strengthening clinical practice, and supporting continuous improvement. Through theoretical frameworks and practical examples from maternal and reproductive health, participants will enhance their ability to lead and sustain meaningful change across multiple spheres of society.
